Lost Classics
New from McKee for Autumn / Winter 2024, Launching Friday 18th October at 10am!!
This year’s Autumn/Winter range came together whilst Pete was looking through the archives to curate his upcoming exhibition at Weston Park.
As an artist who has created a large body of work over the last 20 years, he was reminded just how much he loved some of his earlier works. This trip down memory lane inspired Pete to produce this new range as an ode to his journey. You’ll find a wonderful mix of products and limited edition prints featuring images that have been out of circulation for too long. This collection is Pete’s ‘Lost Classics’.
‘Fond of Sand Dunes’ Mug
This is the original version of what has become an iconic McKee image over the years; a girl and her dog looking out at the wonderful, yet chilly, British coastline.
Bone china mug, printed in Scotland – £17
‘Crazy Golf’ Jumper
Everyone either has or knows a dad who takes the simple family game of crazy golf way too seriously. Never before produced by Pete, this jumper makes a great purchase now the weather has turned colder.
Organic cotton jumper, printed in England – £49
‘At Home With Elvis’ Oven Glove
What if Elvis never left us but instead retired to a council estate in Sheffield? This idea of Elvis’ retired life featured in all of Pete's early exhibitions and he’s selected his favourites to be printed on this lovely oven glove. Thank you, thank you very much.
Double oven glove, made from 100% cotton, and printed in England – £29
‘Or Else’ Tea Towel
This tea towel is inspired by Pete’s childhood school days. Roaming in packs around school, girls would terrorise any lad that showed some sort of weakness with the same empty threat: ‘Do what we say or else!’. What ‘Or Else’ entailed never was specified but the imagined horrors were enough to keep you in line.
100% cotton tea towel, printed in England – £12
‘One Good Turn’ Pint Glass
The eagle-eyed McKee fan will recognise this image from Pete's 2023 exhibition 'Frank and Joy: a Love Story'. However, it was actually taken from an early sketch show that debuted over 10 years ago. Pete loves this couple who are sitting and waiting for the one good turn at their local social club.
– £12
McKee 2025 Calendar
This year’s calendar encompasses the ‘Lost Classics’ theme. It celebrates many of Pete’s images that have been archived for too long. All of these images hold a special place in our hearts and deserve to be seen again.
– £15
Limited Edition Prints
To celebrate the ‘Lost Classics’ collection Pete has decided to create a special run of signed limited edition mini prints featuring his favourite five images from the collection. The chosen images are as follows:
At Home With Elvis – "A McKee collection wouldn’t be the same without a bit of Elvis. We had an Elvis look alike that roamed the streets of Sheffield and it got me thinking, what if Elvis isn’t dead and is in fact living in a council flat in Sheffield, with his two cats, Pricilla and Lisa Marie?"
The Casuals – "My first homage to the Casual culture. Highlighting those early pioneers and trend setters, Tacchini, Ellesse, Pringle, Lacoste and Kappa"
Girl On The Edge – "This image celebrates the fearlessness of girls. It takes guts and determination to survive this world and girls have to come out fighting from the start."
Scratchings – "A dog’s best friend is food, and Frank is very partial to a pork scratching. This was the first incarnation of ‘dog’s looking longingly at food on a table’, a universal theme for any dog owner. Who hasn’t caught that longing gaze from your salivating mutt as you attempt to tuck into your snap. I chose to do this image as a tonal painting, using a brown palate. To compliment the colours of the wood table, pint, scratchings and dog."
Chopper Boy – "Having a chopper wasn’t just about owning a bike. It was about embracing an identity and a way to dress that meant not getting your flairs caught in the chain crank".
Each print is limited to just 25 copies, they are 25cm x 25cm in size, and are only sold framed as seen – £125 each.
Children’s Hospital Charity Christmas Cards 2024
“The toughest challenge of the year is waiting until Christmas day to open your gifts. What if I gave the box a little shake? Or maybe just had a peek in the bag, no one has to know… With such a tasty treat ready for the taking, Frank's present won’t make it to the big day.”
This year's charity Christmas cards have been packaged with a lovely red festive ribbon. All the proceeds from each pack sold go to Artplus which uses art to provide child-friendly settings at Sheffield Children’s Hospital to help young patients feel more comfortable.
Pack of eight cards and envelopes, wrapped in ribbon to cut down on plastic – £6
