Last Days Of Castle Market
Description
Taken from The Joy of Sheff Collection
'Soon its doors will be closed for ever and darkness will be allowed to descend upon the café tables and the battle-worn arcades where our parents talked, our nans bought, and we reluctantly walked. The carousel of toys – which gave them a bargaining tool to get us to behave – will no longer spin with cheap treasures. No longer will the smell of old perfume, fry-ups, and wet fish waft through the air. The iconic signs erected in its glory days will speak to nobody. They will be silenced like the footsteps of a way of life and will be replaced by the new, the shiny, and the higher prices. You’ll miss her when she’s gone.'
